It is only six weeks ago Marissa Mayer left Google for Yahoo, and all the company violates some of the principles established them there.
At least, that's how some react to the animated banner ad on the Google front page Tuesday. Mayer is credited with supervising the layout of minimalist, Google's ad-free website.
The ad shows the upper half of the tech giant Nexus 7 Android tablet in the text: "The playground is open. The new $ 199 tablet from Google." Click on the ad and you're sent to Google Play store, where the tablet to purchase.
Google has announced on the front page. The company put an ad for the Nexus One smartphone in 2010, for example. But that ad was much smaller, limited to one line of text and an icon, and linked to an informative - not a product - page.
Google has also put a text ad on the homepage for the transmission of SOPA protest earlier this year - but again, there was no cart attached.
What do you think of the ad? A promising step, or Google should be completely avoided? Let us know in the comments.
